Making the useful usable

The Southampton Regional e-Science Centre was established in 2002 as part of the national e-Science programme. As the only e-Science Centre to be located within a School of Engineering Sciences it has established a unique position as a centre of excellence in the application of e-Science, Software Engineering and Grid technologies to solving business needs.

Mission & Goals

"To leverage the Centre's facilities, experience and knowledge in e-Science, Software Engineering and Grid technologies for the benefit of the School, the University, and their industrial and academic partners."

In carrying out this mission the e-Science team have a number of goals including:

  • Further enhancing the Centre's services, facilities and skills
  • Enabling increased technology transfer from the School to Industry
  • Maintain our engagement with National and International Grid activities
  • Broadening our Industrial partnerships where we can add value
