Accommodation

The centre's newly refurbished and modern accommodation on the Highfield Campus provides state of the art research and development facilities.

Access GRID

Within the centre a fully equipped Access GRID seminar room is available for e-Science related meetings and events. This comprises a video conferencing suite, with multiple cameras and a large tiled projection display able to simultaneously link up with multiple other sites equipped with Access Grid facilities which can be located anywhere on the globe. Supporting collaborative techniques this is expected to become a central theme of e-Science research. (..Further details)

Our partnership with Southampton University Information Systems Service (ISS), ensures support services for powerful GRID computing applications. This partnership will also ensure that key campus and national links are in place to ensure that functionality and capacity are not a constraint on e-Science based research programmes at the university.

Software Development Environment

Our Industry level software environment includes:

  • Portal development tools
  • Rapid Applications Development techniques
  • Structured design methods
  • Formal release and change Management
  • Ongoing field support and maintenance

Project Management

There are a number of areas where the regional centre can support researchers in executing their e-Science projects. Through the links with national programme the regional centre is aware of national e-Science funding. In addition the centre has staff who can assist during the definition and initiation phases of projects and available to facilitate events and workshops to get your projects off and running.
